Abstract :
INTRODUCTION: In vitro fertilization is the Assisted reproductive technique. After oocytes are retrieved, fertilization occurs in the laboratory via conventional IVF (cIVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Missed abortions are common in IVF pregnancy. In IVF after preimplantation genetic testing is done, the best embryo is transferred, so it is very rare to present as a Partial Hydatidiform mole. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES- To describe a case of partial molar pregnancy after IVF conception mimicking missed abortion. MATERIALS AND METHODS : A 35 year old female, married for 7 years, was diagnosed with abdominal kochs leading to B/L hydrosalpinx for which clipping of tubes was done and AKT taken. After ruling out male factor infertility, the patient was advised IVF modality. Patient placed on Progynova 1 tablet tds+ GnRH analogue. Frozen thaw ET has been done .Embryos transferred to the uterine cavity. Subsequent ultrasonography showed the picture of missed abortion. Serial Beta hcg was done which was on increasing trend, patient planned for suction and evacuation. DISCUSSION: Missed abortion is common in IVF pregnancy. The reasons for a missed abortion in IVF pregnancies can vary and may include chromosomal abnormalities, developmental issues, or other factors affecting fetal growth and viability. A partial mole in an IVF pregnancy refers to a rare condition where there is an abnormality in the development of the placenta and fetus. It is very rare to form a partial mole in IVF pregnancy as in IVF embryo selection is done and healthy embryo is transferred, Partial moles are often detected early through ultrasound or other prenatal screening test, it may not always be clearly distinguishable, leading to a misdiagnosis of missed abortion. So it is important to do serial beta hcg levels keeping alternative diagnosis in mind.
