Author : Dr.Neha Diwal Padwal (Junior Resident in department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, GMCH Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) Dr. Shrinivas Gadappa (Professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, GMCH Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the Labour care guide in our institution by comparing maternal and fetal outcomes between women who received Labour care guided care and those who did not Introduction The Labour Care Guide (LCCG) is a standardized protocol designed to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes during labour. The Labour Care Guide aims to support health care practitioners monitor maternal and fetal status and progress in labor;Continuously remind practitioners to offer supportive care throughout labor;Guide practitioners on what observations should be regularly made and recorded during labor, to identify any emerging complication in mother and/or baby;Provide reference thresholds for abnormal labor observations that should trigger specific action;Minimize overdiagnosis and underdiagnosis of abnormal labor events and unnecessary use of intervention. Methods: Retrospective study design, including 100 women who received Labour care guided care and 100 women who did not.The following data were collected: 1. Demographic characteristics (age, parity, gestational age) 2. Labour and delivery characteristics (mode of delivery, labour duration, pain management) 3. Maternal outcomes 4. Fetal outcomes Data were analyzed.Comparative analysis was performed to compare outcomes between the LCCG and non-LCCG group. Results: The LCCG group had a significantly lower Caesarean section rate of around 25 % compared to the non-LCCG group in whom casearean rate was 46 % Conclusion: Implementation of the Labour care guide has led to improved maternal and fetal outcomes, supporting its use as a standardized protocol for labour care.
