Abstract :
The c-antigen (little c/ Little?s antigen) is part of the Rh blood group system. Anti-c antibody develops in those individuals who are sensitized to ?c? antigen through prior exposure. This is associated with acute and delayed hemolytic transfusion reactions as well as hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). The antibodies produced against Rh antigens are of the immunoglobulin (Ig) G type, which are capable of crossing the placental barrier. We present a case report of anti-c antibody isoimmunization in a 30-year female of Indian origin, Gravida 3 Para 1 Living 1 Abortion 1 (previous LSCS) with 3 months of amenorrhea with prior isoimmunization with the Rh c antigen (detected in her first pregnancy) who was registered and successfully managed at our institute (Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre) with multi-disciplinary team approach in the form of periodic anti- c antibody titers, USG obstetrics with MCA PSV colour doppler and prophylactic use of IVIg. Keywords: Anti-c antibody, Rh incompatibility; anemia; newborn.
